Live, Love, Cacao

Hey y’all

WOD (if y’all don’t do crossfit): the Murph

  • Run 1 mile
  • 100 pull ups
  • 200 push-ups
  • 300 squats
  • Run 1 mile

My time: 56 minutes

So I totally love chocolate. In previous posts I’ve talked about how that’s one habit I can’t kick.  Chocolate is a must have.

This morning I had an awesome nutrient packed CHOCOLATE GALORE smoothie bowl.

Base

  • 4 frozen, peeled bananas (very ripe)
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk

Toppings

  • Frozen pineapple
  • Seattle granola (dark chocolate, cranberry, and almonds)
  • Coconut chips
  • Chia seeds

If you want to add more flavor, you can get a mocha flavor by adding a half a cup of brewed coffee.

Split the recipe in half and freeze the other half in a container.

In a couple of hours you got nice cream! No dairy, no sugar, and yummy!
*cacao powder can be found at various health stores. I got mine from the health section of TJ Maxx (lol)

*Raw Cacao and chocolate bars you find in stores are completely different. Processed chocolate is made with roasted cocoa, sugar, milk, and other ingredients that turn it into a solid food. (Read more: http://dailysuperfoodlove.com/2852/21-fantastic-benefits-of-cacao/#ixzz4imDyYW4G

It improves your mood, protects your heart, defends against cardiovascular disease, can prevent blood clots as it can thin your blood (study done at UC Davis), can prevent aging prematurely, help shed fat because it has MAO inhibitors which shrinks your appitite, it also combats fatigue which is !!!, fights tooth decay, lowers your blood pressure, fights early onset of Alzheimer’s and SO many other things that you can find more here

You can buy it in a couple of ways but my favorite are nibs (for topping) and powder (for base which is 29 calories for 2 tablespoons).

My new FAVORITE granola (which yes I found at TJ maxx also)

No artificial flavors, no trans fat, no wheat, no GMO, and for half a cup it’s 148 calories!!
~until next time
